Artist Craft Fair! And Partial List of Artists!

Tacoma Is For Lovers, Indie Tacoma, and Kings' Books present a special Anti/ Valentine's Day Artist Craft Fair! Find a special gift for those you love! Find a special gift for those you hate! A multitude of artists will have tables feauturing arts, crafts, jewelry, letterpress prints, t-shirts and more! We'll also have a ridiculous Photo Booth for you to take lovely/lovelorn pictures. Your purchases help support artists in Tacoma! Below is a partial list of participating artists. More will be added as they become confirmed. After a day of inspiration, showcase you talents at our Awkward Love Poetry Open Mic at 5 pm!

Tacoma Is For Lovers is a community-based organization that annually produces Artist Craft Fairs and monthly Craft Nights in order to promote the visibility of local artists and encourages reuse, intentionality, sustainability and high craft.

Indie Tacoma Arts & Crafts strives to promote, create, and enhance artist communities for the greater good. We empower fellow crafters through an Artist Craft Fair as well as uniting craftspeople into a supportive community.

Laurie Cinotto of La La Laurie (Tacoma) Flowers, cards, birdcages - all from paper

Laurie is a co-founder of Soil. She has also exhibited at the King County Art Gallery, at Tacoma Contemporary and the John Erickson Museum of Art, now located in Gainesville, FL. Laurie is the force behind The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee blog. A book of her paper creations is due for release in 2011.

Epiphany Couch (Tacoma) Jewelry primarily from bicycle parts

Epiphany repairs bicycles and makes jewelry utilizing bicycle parts.

Stella Crumpton of Stella Lee (Tacoma) Vinyl wallets & handbags and caramels

Stella is a former mechanic who repurposes auto vinyl to sew tough bags for tough girls. She will be debuting vinyl wallets and have on-hand vinyl clothing accessories and her always-tasty caramels.

Connie DeBruler of Lu Lu (Tacoma) Pewter pendants and crafty jewelry

Connie crafts pewter pendants with a variety of pictorial sentiments. She owns Lu Lu on Broadway in downtown Tacoma.

Audra Laymon (Tacoma) Prints, cards, t-shirt bags

Audra is a printmaker, illustrator, and artist working in a variety of mediums. Her work ranges from whimsical to profound and can most recently be seen in the Peanut Butter Space Jam show at The Space.

Miranda Pollitz (Tacoma) Felted jewelry

Miranda needle-felts a variety of creatures and objects, including jewelry!

Heather Rowland (Tacoma) Vegan baked goods

Heather bakes a variety of unique vegan delicacies. She is a baker at The Den at UrbanXchange.

Two Kings Confections (Tacoma) Baked goods

Two Kings is run by Meredith Hale and Marty Hale-Evans. They will be selling baked goods and other delicacies, including pie-on-a-stick!


Valentine/ Anti-Valentie Craft Fair!!! Sunday February 13th!

Well, I have done it again. I have been sleeping on the job! But I woke up just in time to alert you all the Sunday's Craft Fair! It will be at King's Books from 11-4. Lots of amazing artists, lots of good stuff!

After the Craft Fair, stay for the Awkward Love Poetry Open Mic. It will be amazing!

September Craft Night!

September 9 * 7 pm. Craft Night: Fused Silk Design!

Tacoma Is For Lovers presents Craft Night! Each month features an artist introducing a new craft. This month features Miki Hayes teaching Silk Fusion! This process creates a sheet of fabric that can be sewn, used as decorative paper, or sculpted into other designs. After separating strands of silk, one can interlace the fibers on a screen, dampen them, and add a fabric medium to set the work. Participants can bring small, thin, flat materials to work into their piece (flower petals, parts of feathers, etc) or use the ones provided. Tomorrow! Ashley Mimura! Craft Night!

Holy cow, Tacoma! I've been sleeping on the job!

Please join us tomorrow evening at King's Books for Craft Night! Ashley Mimura is going to teach us how to take a big, boring t-shirt and make it amazing!

August 12 * 7 pm. Craft Night: Reconstructing T-Shirts.

Tacoma Is For Lovers presents Craft Night! Each month features an artist introducing a new craft. This month features Ashley Mimura teaching how to Reconstruct T-Shirts! We'll be working on two different projects. Bring your own over-sized t-shirts to work with or use ours. The $20 fee covers materials, plus a small donation to TIFL and King's Books. April 8 * 7 pm. Craft Night: Paper Flower Crafting!

Tacoma Is For Lovers presents Craft Night! Each month features an artist introducing a new craft. The first 1 ½ hours will be devoted to learning the necessary techniques. After which, people can continue working on the activity or work on other projects. This month features Laurie Cinotto teaching paper flower crafting! Laurie will show you how to create several flower designs out of colorful crepe paper. In just an evening you will master the art, and leave with a lovely bouquet of blooms. The $17 fee covers materials (paper, floral tape and wire), plus a small donation to TIFL and King's Books. Please pre-register with sweet pea so that we know how many materials to bring!

March 11 * 7 pm. Craft Night: Collage!

Tacoma Is For Lovers presents Craft Night! Each month features an artist who will introduce a new craft. The first 1 ½ hours will be devoted to learning the necessary techniques. After which, people can continue working on the activity or work on other projects. This month features Chris Sharp teaching collage. The project focuses on images from a 1980s book on breakdancing that participants will cut and re-compose to create a new work. The $15 fee covers materials plus a small donation to TIFL and King's Books. Please pre-register with sweet pea so that we know how many materials to bring!


Chris Sharp works in letterpress, painting, graphic design, installation, and vintage sign painting.

The First of Many Craft Nights at King's Books!

Wow! What a great night we had.

Thanks you to all who came out and to Miranda Pollitz who led us in our felting adventure!

It was so great to see the 30 or so participants turn bright, cotton candy like wool into wonderful little birds.

With great anticipation we wait for March's Craft Night. It is not to be missed. Artist Chris Sharp will be leading a fantastic, break-dancing based collage workshop. Join us on March 11th at 7pm at King's Books. And be sure to RSVP to Sweet Pea. See you soon!

Tacoma Is For Lovers presents their first Craft Night! Each month will feature an artist who will introduce a new craft. The first 45 minutes will be devoted to learning the necessary techniques. After which, people can continue working on the activity or work on other projects. This month features Miranda Pollitz who will introduce needle felting. The $15 fee covers materials (needle, carded wool, foam pad) plus a small donation to TIFL and King's Books. The project will focus on creating the felted bird featured in the book Little Felted Animals by Marie-Noëlle Horvath. Please pre-register with sweet pea so that we know how many materials to bring!

Dear Artists and Community Supporters,

Thank you all so much for your hard work, beautiful wares and continued support!

So far, we have raised about $1300 for Colleen Malone. I still have a few auction items floating about, so I don't have a final count.

I am so happy to have shared Sunday with all of you. I hope that you will all participate again next November. Spring is also a possibility. I will let you know.
